Halloween is a fun holiday for adults and children alike
although considered mostly a holiday for kids. The following
article provides information with respect to Halloween history,
costumes for kids, costumes for adults, party ideas, and fun
treats. It may be said everyone nowadays may enjoy the scary-themed
holiday.
The history of Halloween began with the Celts. The holiday started
as early as 2900 B.C. The Celts participated in Halloween
celebrations with the intent of warding off evil spirits by way of
huge bonfires and wearing scary masks. In this light it may be said
the holiday of Halloween started out much the same way as we view
it today. The Halloween of the Celts however was considered a Pagan
occasion until the Christians got a hold of it. Then it became a
children's event. It was thought by the Christians that many of the
pagan-style rituals of the Celts were getting out-of-hand and
making it a children's event placed it within a milder celebratory
light.
There are many ways we can celebrate Halloween. It may enliven our imaginations by visiting the spookiest of places, or allow us to become more creative then we ever bargained. It is a certainty that we are at an advantage in that we may choose between the trick or the treat. Most of us will select the treat in lieu of the trick: after all the trick can be an illusion as demonstrated by Welles' famous radio account of War of the Worlds. However both the trick and treat go hand-in-hand and you can't enjoy your treats if you don't have a little bit of scary masterful fun.
